The Patriots on offense rely mostly on QB Brady's throwing and a balanced running game with James White and Dion Lewis and are more used late in games after wearing teams out. The Patriots rely heavily on crossing routes and legal pick plays to open up the middle of the field. TE Gronkowski a favorite receiver of Brady returns from concussion protocol and will see the ball plenty in this game. WR Brandin Cooks will see most of the deep ball throws. The defense which was lit up early in the season has settled down into a bend but don't break style of defense that has worked out nicely for the Patriots throughout the last 10 games of the season. The OL will have its hands full in trying to stop the front 7 of the Eagles and give Brady time to throw the football. This game will also mark the ending of a great coaching staff as both OC Josh McDaniels and DC Matt Patricia are moving on to take head coaching positions with the Colts and Lions respectively.
The Eagles are a very balanced football team and except for the question mark of backup QB Nick Foles leading them in the Super Bowl, the Eagles would be favorites in this game. Nick Foles became the starter when QB Carson Wentz injured his knee in the 13th game of the season. Philadelphia still has all its offensive weapons but their defense is the power of this team. If Foles can continue his torrid pace of completing 75% of his passes and has another big game as he did in the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles will win Super Bowl LII.
Looking at this game, these are 2 very high powered explosive offenses capable of putting up a lot of points and defenses that have proven themselves all season long. Both the Patriots and Eagles are relatively healthy and this game could go many ways. The game could be a high scoring last team with the ball winner, a defensive struggle, a blowout, a game of turnovers or whose special teams step up. Both teams are built for years of success with different styles of play but both have shown resiliency in winning many games this year. Many also are looking forward to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell handing the Lombardi Trophy over to Tom Brady if the Patriots win this game.
