Puppy Bowl XIV vs. Kitten Bowl V written by Joey Baloney aka The Cat

Puppy Bowl XIV is going to be the best one yet! This year, the puppies were rescued from areas hit by natural disasters in 2017, such as Houston, Puerto Rico and Florida. About 48 different animal shelters and rescue organizations from 25 U.S. states and territories were used to recruit the puppies for both teams Fluff and Ruff and will include roughly 90 puppies play in the Puppy Bowl.. And for the first time ever, a one-hour special airing Feb. 3 (8 p.m. ET) on the Animal Planet Channel called the Dog Bowl will turn the spotlight on older canines in need of homes. The Dog Bowl, is making its inaugural appearance, which will air the night before the Super Bowl will include 40 dogs and feature fully grown mutts—adults and seniors—playing their own game of furry football. The broadcast will also feature a couple of human NFL players: Logan Ryan and Eric Decker of the Tennessee Titans, who work with animal shelters and dog rescues in their spare time.
Puppy Bowl XIV kicks off with a furry group of line barkers and wide retrievers, making adorable fumbles and tumbles in an effort to score winning touchdowns for Team Ruff and Team Fluff.  For the seventh year in a row, America's favorite "Rufferee," Dan Schachner, returns to call the puppy penalties, furry fumbles and terrier touchdowns. He will also be teamed up with for the first time a new assistant referee named Shirley who is a Sloth. The players include such special needs pups as Ryder, a sight-impaired Husky; Chance, a deaf Dalmatian; Moonshine, a sight-impaired and deaf Border Collie; and Luna, Pomeranian mix with a cleft palate from Port Huron, Michigan. The Kitty Half-Time Show features Prince Michael and Phil the cat, and more. Puppy Bowl will air on  the Animal Planet Channel at 3 pm (est) on Sunday, February 4th, 2018 with the Puppy Bowl pregame show starting at 2 pm (est).
The Kitten Bowl starts Super Bowl Sunday off at Noon on the Hallmark Channel. All the kittens and cats are available for adoption. NFL icon Boomer Esiason will return as the Feline Football League Commissioner.  Beth Stern again hosts the big showdown from Hallmark Channel Stadium, featuring adoptable "cat-letes" playing with cat toys, taking cat naps and generally behaving like the adorable fluffballs they are. Beth has fostered countless animals in need while working to find animals homes, and she’s excited that the 2018 Kitten Bowl will highlight the cathlete’s personal stories. This year's players competing for the "National Championship of Feline Football" trophy include kittens rescued from recent natural disasters. Other Commentators for Kitten Bowl V include Dean Cain, Alison Sweeney and Rodney Peete, and the event partner is again North Shore Animal League America. And watch for such kitty gridiron players as Banzai, J.J. Swatts, Lady Bug (favorite singer: "Meowly Cyrus"), Boots (quote: "I have always relied upon the kindness of strays"), Doc (favorite TV show: "Orange is the New Cat") and Elvis (nickname: "The King.") You can also go onto the website www.hallmarkchannel.com/kittenbowl for interactive fun including making your own trading cards featuring any and all of the Cat-Letes in this years Kitten Bowl V.  Chilli, leads The North Shore Bengals. “The Little Hawaiian” might not have the eye of the tiger, but expect this cat to roar like a lion when leading the team to victory.  Dexter, Honey Bun, Jason Kitten, Murphy, Peaches, Penny and “Mad Cat” Star fill out the rest of the Bengals. They’ll have to take on some fierce competition when they meet the Pouncy Panthers. The “Tiny Terror” of Dew Drop will bring the noise – and the cute – when they hit the field. Along with quartercat Feline Manning, Dumpling, Kazoo, Lulu, Macaroni, Norman and Swirl, the Pouncy Panthers look to get a tail up on the competition. Turn into the Hallmark Channel on Feb. 4 at 12 PM EST and/or 3 PM EST to watch Kitten Bowl V.
An estimated 40 million viewers will be watching Puppy Bowl XIV and  over 20 million viewers will watch the Kitty Bowl V.  Major sponsors who purchase commercial time for these Bowls must also commit to being sponsors and advertise all year round with all programming on these channels. Puppy Bowl XIII official sponsors include PEDIGREE, Petco, BISSELL,  Dairy Queen, GEICO, AllState, Milkbone, Chewy.com, Purina, PetFinder.com, Twizzlers, Wisdom Panel, Tinder, and Subaru and Southwest.  Kitty Bowl IV official sponsors include Meow Mix and Allegra ,Subaru, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and Pet Smart just to name a few . All the puppies and kittens are available to be adopted right after the Bowls air on television through the shelters and some are even adopted by staffers of the events.  My favorite part is seeing how cute all the kittens are as well as how well the puppies play together and knowing that all my friends will get adopted and go to good homes to be with their new families. So if after watching the Kitten Bowl and Puppy Bowl you decide you or you and your family is looking for a kitten or cat, puppy or a dog, please visit the animal shelters in your area and pick out a new family member. Remember to always have your Cats and Dogs spayed and neutered.
