Alabama, once again remained the top team in the CFB Polls as they finally played a good caliber team in LSU and won by a couple of touchdowns. The one knock on the Roll Tide has been their lack of playing top ranked teams. Georgia kept pace with Alabama by also remaining undefeated as they beat a good South Carolina team. Notre Dame got off to a fast start and held on against Wake Forest. Clemson had a battle with NC State but held on by a touchdown. Ohio State fresh off its comeback win over Penn State the week before, got steamrolled by Iowa to all but end their CFB Playoff hopes this year. Penn State's playoff hopes also are over as they were upset by Michigan State who now control their own destiny to win the B1G East and get into the B1G Championship game. The Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio is being mentioned as Coach of the Year in the CFB World.
In the Bedlam Battle in Oklahoma, we witnessed two teams with very explosive offenses and virtually no defense as Oklahoma downed Oklahoma State. Both teams combined for over 1,000 yards passing. Teams still think the way to win is to outscore their opponents over winning with great defense. But teams like those in the B1G such as; Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan still believe in tough defenses as the way to winning games year in and year out.
This upcoming week we will once again see key Conference match ups especially in the Power 5 conferences that will once again most certainly change the CFB Playoff dynamics. Will a two loss team get in? If Michigan State runs the table do they get in seeing they have a Top 5 strength of schedule in the Country? Will a team such as Wisconsin who wasn't played anyone this season get into the CFB Playoffs if they go undefeated and win the B1G Championship? The Badgers will play only two teams ranked in the Top 25 this season and do not play MSU, PSU, or OSU all top ranked and top teams in the Country. So buckle up and get ready for the final 3-4 weeks of the college football season, then comes the Conference Championships,38 Bowl games and then the 4 team CFB Playoffs. Remember, I generally only pick games whose point spreads are 7 points or less and always pick a minimum of 4 underdogs a week.
