CFB Top25 Week 7 and Recap of week 6 by CupofJoeintheD

Here is the CFB Top 25 Week 7, updated by Joey the CFB Cat Analyst and also by CupofJoeintheD and the recap of Week 6 of the CFB season  Two big upsets occurred this past Saturday. In the 1st game, 30 point underdog Iowa State went into Norman and in a shootout downed #3 Oklahoma and probably dashed all hopes the Sooners had of making the 4 team College Football Playoffs. The 2nd game, Michigan State, a young and inexperienced team who are always hungry and well coached under HC Mark Dantonio won for the 8th time in the last times over the Wolverines. The Spartans stormed into Ann Arbor and won the game in the trenches causing Michigan to turn the ball over 5 times. The Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh, who is a great recruiter and top showman once again could not win the big game and is now 1-4 against Michigan State and Ohio State. Spartans HC Dantonio clearly out coached Wolverines HC Harbaugh. One has to wonder if this trend of losing to their top rivals will cause Harbaugh to start listening to the NFL offers and return to the NFL to coach once again.
Alabama remained undefeated even though it wasn't their best game of the year in beating Texas A&M. The Clemson Tigers also stayed perfect in defeating the upstart Demon Deacons of Wake Forest. In the battle of Florida teams, Miami (Fla.) beat FSU on a last second TD pass.  LSU and Florida slugged it out but in the end, LSU edged the Gators on a missed extra point. Washington and Wisconsin took care of business and Penn State won easily over Northwestern. Georgia continues its Cinderella season and showed everyone they are the 2nd best team in the SEC by cruising past Vanderbilt.  TCU continued to move up in the Top 10 by holding off West Virginia to run its record to 6-0.  Stanford redeemed itself by traveling to Salt Lake City and handing Utah its first loss of the season.  Auburn also won again behind its high octane offense to move back into the Top 10. In a battle of the Armed Forces, Navy won a high scoring affair over the Air Force to go to 5-0 on its season. North Carolina State continued to mow down teams in its way as they handed Louisville and Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson their 2nd loss of the season. In a late game Saturday night,  San Diego State went in Las Vegas and throttled UNLV to also remain undefeated.
Remember, I generally only pick games whose point spreads are 7 points or less and always pick a minimum of 4 underdogs a week. Joey the CFB Analyst went 24-3 in week 6 including picking 5 upsets, YTD, He is 103-27 with 22 upsets picked. Watch for His week 7 picks later this week.
On a separate note, We saw the ugliness in college sports as the US Justice Department handed down indictments and charges against Coaches and Schools in the wake of an NCAA Basketball scandal. The biggest person mentioned so far has been Louisville HC Rick Pitino who has been mentioned to have allegedly funneled 100k to a basketball recruit and the school has placed him on indefinite leave. Coach Pitino denies the allegations but has put his home up for sale in Louisville. Rick Pitino and the Cardinals are still waiting for final punishment from the NCAA for a sex scandal at the school a few years back. I am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg and many more programs and Coaches will be affected by this scandal. College athletics have become a huge money making machine for Colleges and Coaches, especially in Basketball and Football and there will be much more to come!
