Detroit Lions Blow Huge Opportunity at Lambeau Field

On a day where the new Detroit Lions were suppose to show up, the old Lions resurfaced and once again laid an egg in Green Bay.  The team was beat in all 4 areas of football (special teams, defense, offense and coaching).  Stafford has to shoulder most of the blame for this game. He had a few good throws but for most of the game he couldn't hit the side of a barn. He missed some throws very badly including a wide open Calvin Johnson on a deep route and a wide open Golden Tate on a fourth down throw in the 2nd quarter. The defense played ok especially stopping GB at the goal line but for whatever reason the Lions decided to leave the middle of their field open all day to the Packer receivers.  I do not know why they didn't blitz more especially when Rodgers couldn't run in the 2nd half but they chose only to do so a few times and he made them pay all day with open receivers over the middle. The special teams were awful once again and this is a concern that hopefully will be addressed before Dallas. Penalties and blown assignments and coughing up the football came at the worst times and shouldn't happen at this time of the season.  Once again the play calling was terrible. Where were the crossing routes? Where were the screens to Tate and the RB's? Or the hand offs to Tate and others around the end? Where is the creativity when it is needed. When you have 6'4 and 6'5 TE's, throw the ball more than 2 or 3 times a game to them. The Lions play calling which Everyone says has included a reduced playbook of calls looks like a high schools play calling at best at times. This was a Golden opportunity to of had home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs but now they must go on the road and play the hottest team in all of football right now in Dallas.  I sure hope Jim Caldwell can straighten out all the breakdowns on this team and get Matt Stafford's head turned around. Stafford definitely has had good games and not so good games this year, lets hope He has a good game against Dallas as He and the offense will need to be mistake free and put some points on the board and not leave them on the field. And come on Joe Lombardi, open the offense up a bit and keep the opposing defenses guessing somewhat as to what you are doing.  If Stafford and the Lions play at Dallas like they did against the Packers it will be a one and out playoff run and to me a sour end to a good but not great season.
