NFL Week 5 Picks by Cooper the Analyst and Cup of Joe in the D

NFL Football Week 5 is Here!!!!  The Los Angeles Rams (3-1) travel to Seattle (3-1) to take on the Seahawks on Thursday night to kick off week 4. The Rams are coming off a beat down at home by the Buccaneers in which they gave up 55 points to TB. Meanwhile the Seahawks took care of business in winning easily in Arizona. Seattle is the surprise in the NFC West early on this season.
Week 5 will see the underachieving Falcons visiting the Texans. Houston is looking to rebound after last weeks loss and both teams are looking to find answers for anemic offenses. Jacksonville which found the running game with Fournette will face a Panther team in a game which should be high scoring. The Patriots head into Washington in a game that looks like another lopsided win for New England. The Patriots will be without Pro Bowl Kicker Gostkowski who was placed on IR. The Redskins have no idea who their QB will be in this game. Tampa Bay and their new found high scoring offense visit the Saints in a game that could be a shootout.  The lowly Jets coming off their bye week travel to Philly and take on the Eagles fresh off their win at Green Bay last week.  Two winless teams face off in Cincinnati with the Cardinals and the Bengals. Both teams have glaring weaknesses and it should be a low scoring game. The surprising Bills travel to Tennessee in a game of two good defenses and 2 average at best offenses going head to head.
The Bears travel to the West Coast to fave the Raiders in LA. the Raiders showed left last week in their win at Indy while the Bears once again relied on their stout defense and non existent offense. Baltimore visits the Steelers after coming off a throttling at home and Pittsburgh cruised last week to their first win of the season. Minnesota which seems to play like a contender one week and a pretender the next travel to NY to face the Giants who have won 2 in a row and welcome the return of WR Golden Tate this week.
In the last games on Sunday, the Broncos seek their first win of the season against the LA Chargers who look to continue their winning ways.  The Packers who lost for the first time this season look to rebound against the Cowboys in Dallas. Dallas also is looking to get back to their winning ways in this game.  In the night game, the Colts travel to Kansas City and face the undefeated Chiefs. Indianapolis hasn't looked like the playoff team they were a year ago and the Chiefs who are still undefeated had to win another close game last week to remain undefeated.
The Monday night game features the Browns and the 49ers. Cleveland is coming off their road min at Baltimore while San Francisco had a bye week. Look for a high scoring game here.
On a side note, once again a disgruntled played has demanded a trade and if the NFL isn't careful, it will soon become just like the NBA where the Players run the league not the Owners.  On the topic of teams trading key players and tanking, this also needs to be addressed by the NFL and rules put in place to stop it. Another week where Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey is sick during the week as he tries to force the team to trade him. When will teams takes a stance and say enough is enough? Also, Raiders LB Vontaze Burfict is in the headlines again for a cheap shot that injured and opposing player. This is his 3rd unnecessary roughing call for deliberately hurting an opposing player and the NFL finally got it right in suspending him for the rest of the year. Burfict is appealing the suspension and the Raiders are backing him up. The Raiders need to cut him. Even though football is a violent sport, 3 times in not a charm with this player. As He left the field after getting ejected he smiled at the fans.
The NFC North is without doubt the toughest Division is all of Football...
There were no consensus picks to be win Super Bowl LIII in the preseason but the Patriots and Cowboys and Rams and Chiefs stand out for far!!! . Looks like numerous teams have a chance this season. Each year, every team and their fans are optimistic that this will be their year to win the Super Bowl. There are the contenders, the so so's and the pretenders. Contenders this season will be in the AFC; the Pats, Chiefs and Chargers.  In the NFC;  Bears, Eagles, Rams, Saints.  The pretenders will be; Bengals (even with a very easy schedule), Raiders, Redskins, Buccaneers, and Dolphins. Surprise teams are: Browns, Texans, Lions, Falcons, Broncos and Jets.  The Colts had been the talk of potentially getting to the Super Bowl before QB Andrew Luck abruptly retired 2 weeks ago.   Cooper was 10-5 in his week 4 and is 46-22-1 YTD.  See his NFL Picks and he looks forward to another fun and exciting season.  We will pick the games each week and post the previous weeks records and recap as we go forward.. Enjoy the NFL Season!!!  Cooper says are ready for some Football.....  twitter; @Thecupofjoeinthed   email; cupofjoeinthed@gmail.com    www.cupofjoeinthed.blogspot.com
