National Championship is Set Tonight - Villanova and Michigan

     The crowning of the NCAA Mens Basketball Championship Game is finally here. Tonight, the Villanova Wildcats and Michigan Wolverines, play in the Title game to decide once and for all who is the best basketball team this season in Collegiate Basketball. Both teams have very experienced and Tournament tested Coaches who will make sure their Teams are fully prepared for this game. These 2 teams have risen to National prominence the past few years and are two of the top basketball programs in the Country. Villanova, a #1 seed, beat Kansas in the Final Four and Michigan, a #3 seed beat the Cinderella team of the Tourney, Loyola of Chicago.
     Villanova showcased their 3 point shooting in their win as they put up a record 40, 3 pointers and made 18 of them.  This Tournament has shown that it is time to move the 3 point line back to either the international line or the NBA line. It is way to easy for players to launch 3 pointers nowadays.  Michigan, struggled again in the 1st half but its athleticism and team chemistry wore down Loyola and they overcame a 10 point deficit early in the 2nd half to win going away.
     The teams match up very well against each other and this has the markings of a run and gun shootout. For Michigan to win, they need to guard the 3 point line, stop easy transition baskets and get out to a better start and play for all 40 minutes. Villanova, will have some trouble inside with Michigan and need to not turn the ball over and continue to make their 3's.  Joe Boloney, the NCAA t Analyst had 2 teams in the Final Four and went 2 and 0 on Saturday in the Final Four and is 45-17 in the NCAA Tournament and looks forward to a classic battle between Villanova and Michigan.  I will let you know how he did in my final NCAA Basketball post. Hopefully CBS will continue to put the Elite Eight, Final Four and Championship Game on CBS every year going forward.
