First up on Saturday is the Tennessee Titans at the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams struggled offensively in the last half of the season and this game could end up being a low scoring affair. Injuries could play a big part in this game as Titans QB Marcus Mariota has had leg injuries all season long and starting RB DeMarco Murray is out but stepping in for Murray is 2nd year RB Derrick Henry who many think will be the starter RB next season. Neither of these teams is expected to make it past the 1st round of the playoffs but this should be a hard fought game with two of the leagues young premier RB's facing off in the Titans Henry and the Chiefs Hunt.
The second game on Saturday has the LA Rams hosting the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons, who made it to last seasons Super Bowl and had an epic collapse have had a much harder time this season then last year in making the playoffs. The Rams on the other hand were the surprise in the NFL and have an excellent defense to go with an explosive offense. Both teams can run and throw the ball all over the field. The LA Rams will be in their first playoff game since relocating from St. Louis in 25 years. This game has the looks of a shootout and the weather will be awesome.
Sunday kicks off with the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo finally ended its 18 playoff drought as they won their last game of the season and needed the Bengals comeback win over the Ravens to get them into the playoffs. Buffalo will be without its star RB LeSean McCoy as the Bills face the number 1 defense in the NFL. This should also be a close low scoring affair. Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles has played some of his best football the past few weeks and will have to not turn the ball over for Jacksonville to win the game. It will be a chilly 50 degrees and windy at game time.
The Sunday late game has the Carolina Panthers visiting the New Orleans Saints. The NFC South has 3 teams in this years playoffs. The Panthers rebounded from a terrible 2016 season and have won with a balanced running and passing attack while the Saints have relied on a surprising defense and an explosive offensive featuring a two RB attack. This should be a good game and the team that survives the turnover battle and injury bug will advance to the next round. Weather will not be a factor as this game is being played indoors.
The Coaching Carousel began this past week with many teams firing their head coaches and looking for a new Head Coach. The NFL needs to adopt a rule not allowing teams to interview other teams coaches while the playoffs are going on or until that team is eliminated from the Playoffs. Also, a bombshell was dropped in New England as a report was released yesterday by Seth Wickersham detailing the the unrest and power struggles within the Patriots between Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and Owner Robert Kraft. Of course the Patriots denied the report and as much as the Pats are favorites to win this years Super Bowl, could this be the last year for the trio to be together.
