Week 7 of the NFL season begins Thursday night with two AFC West teams heading in different directions. The Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) visiting the Oakland Raiders (2-4). The Chiefs are looking to keep their 2 game lead in the Division while the Raiders behind QB Carr are just looking to get out of last place. Also just in, BREAKING
NEWS, the Federal Appeals Court in New York has issued a stay allowing Ezekiel Elliott to once again bypass his suspension and play this week for the Dallas Cowboys.
Sunday starts off with the Dolphins hosting the NY Jets. Both teams have problems scoring so this will come down to which teams defense steps up and plays better. Tampa Bay travels to Buffalo in a big game for both teams. The Buccaneers may or may not be without starting QB Jameis Winston who injured his throwing arm last week. The Bills need a win to keep up with New England in the AFC East. Jacksonville travels to face the Colts in a game that the loser will be in last place in the AFC South. Both teams lost tough games last Sunday and look to rebound this Sunday. The Colts will once again be without QB Andrew Luck who has yet to play a game this season.
The Arizona Cardinals with renewed hope to save the season after last weeks encouraging win and the reborn running game around Adrian Peterson, travel to Los Angeles to face the high scoring and 1st place LA Rams. In Chicago, the Bears who won last week on an OT field goal, will start rookie QB Mitch Trubisky for the 3rd straight game against the 1st place Carolina Panthers. Carolina is fresh coming off their bye week. The New Orleans Saints who scored 52 points last week, travel to Green Bay and play the Packers. Green Bay who lost QB Aaron Rodgers possibly for the season will try to rely on 3rd year backup Brett Hundley to take them to the playoffs once again. In what will be a controversial subject the rest of this year, the debate is whether it was a clean or dirty hit that knocked Rodgers out for the season. Also Head Coach Mike McCarthy made it perfectly clear he was happy with his QB's and they were not interested in Free Agent QB Colin Kaepernick who is still unemployed and recently filed a lawsuit against the league and its Owners for collusion.
In Cleveland, the Browns who are still looking for their first win of the season are changing QB's again and going back to DeShone Kiser after only one game. The Browns quarterback situation is nothing less then a disaster. The Titans who seem to have a good game followed by a bad one, look to keep pace with Houston and Jacksonville in the AFC South. Baltimore travels to Minnesota in a must win game for the Ravens. The Ravens lost last week to Chicago in a game they had no reason losing. Minnesota still using backup QB Case Keenum, got some great news as QB Teddy Bridewater was cleared to return to all football activities. The Vikings have 21 days to decide to activate him for the rest of the season of place him on IR until next season.
Dallas travels to San Francisco to play the win less 49ers. The Cowboys coming off their bye week still are allowed to play RB Elliott as his NFL case plays out in the Federal Courts. The 49ers who have lost 5 of their 6 games by 3 points or less benched starting QB Brian Hoyer and backup QB CJ Bethard came in and gave the offense a spark. This is a must win game for the Cowboys who trail the 1st place Eagles by 3 games in the NFC East. The New York Giants fresh off their 1st win of the season last week host the Seattle Seahawks who are coming off their bye week. The Giants who relied heavily on its defense to win last week, will once again call on them as the offense is banged up and has been erratic all season long. The Seahawks look for their offense to continue to score points and for their defense to be strong and win the turnover battle. The Chargers will host the Broncos in a game both teams need to win. San Diego which has been close to winning all but one game this yea,r look to win their 3rd game in a row, while Denver looks to rebound after laying an egg last Sunday night against the NY Giants. Pittsburgh hosts the Bengals in a must win game for the Bengals. The Steelers on the other hand are peaking and look to be the odds on favorite to with the AFC this year. Pittsburgh, in beating the Chiefs last week, handed them their 1st loss of the year and also ended the last of the unbeaten teams in the NFL.
On Sunday night, the struggling Atlanta Falcons travel to New England to play a Patriot team that has been beaten twice at home this year and has allowed 30+ points in 3 home games. New England looks to remain in 1st place in the AFC East and put it together on both sides of the ball. Atlanta who blew a 17 point halftime lead last week have struggled mightily and need to find a way to win. This is a rematch of last years Super Bowl teams and both teams were picked to possibly have a rematch this year in the Super Bowl. Both teams have a long ways to go to even get back to the Super Bowl this year. On Monday night, in the best game of the week, the Eagles host the Redskins. Both teams won last week and this is a game Washington needs to win to keep pace in the NFC East. Philadelphia, who is in first place in their Division look to continue their winning ways.
