NFL Week 2 Picks by Cooper NFL Analyst and Cup of Joe in the D

Week 2 of the NFL season begins Thursday night with the Houston Texans (0-1) visiting the Cincinnati Bengals (0-1). Both teams got off to horrendous starts as both were blown out at home in Week 1. Houston once again had QB issues and switched to rookie 1st round pick DeShawn Watson to start the 2nd half. Reports have Watson as the starting QB for this game.  The loser of this game will have dug themselves an early hole and these teams need to rebound from last weeks debacles and show some offensive spark. The Browns travel to Baltimore and look better then they were last season as they face a Ravens team that showed just enough offense and as always a staunch defense to begin the season.  Philly travels to KC in a battle of 2 teams on the rise in their respective Conferences. Fans are waiting with baited breathe to see if Chiefs rookie RB Kareem Hunt will have another stellar game in week 2.  The Cardinals visit the Colts in a game where Arizona looks to regroup and overcome the loss of star RB David Johnson and the Colts just look to try and not get blown out at home. Colts star QB Andrew Luck will once again be out as He is recovering from off season shoulder surgery. Minnesota fresh off a dominant performance against the Saints travels to Pittsburgh as the Steelers look to play better then they did last week and show they are serious contenders in the AFC. If the Vikings get strong play from their OL again and QB Sam Bradford gets time to throw the ball it could be a long day for the Steelers. Pittsburgh's Le'Veon Bell looked rusty from his holdout of training camp and without a running game, Steelers could be in trouble.
Enough about the New England Patriots going undefeated. They were outplayed down the stretch and Pats QB Tom Brady completed just 44% of his passes and no TD's. I am sure by the end of the season, New England will be challenging for the AFC Title and a possible return to Super Bowl LII. But in the meantime, they have some glaring issues that need to be addressed and the 10 days between games will help them out. I do not see the Patriots starting the season 0-2. The Saints were over matched last week and need to try to shore up a porous defense and OL if they want to win any games this year. This game could end up being a blowout for the Patriots or a shoot out that helps out the Saints.
Buffalo is at Carolina in a game between teams coming off wins in week 1. Both teams have allot to prove and show the league they have both put wasted 2016 seasons behind them. The Patriots coming off an embarrassing week 1 loss to the Chiefs, looks to avenge themselves against New Orleans. Tennessee goes into Jacksonville in the home opener for the Jaguars and also in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The Titans were throttled at home while Jacksonville behind a great defensive effort beat up the Texans in Houston last week.  The Bears also travel to Florida and play the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay in the 1st game there since Hurricane Irma. The Bears were one play away from upsetting the Falcons last week while the Buccaneers are playing for the 1st time. Miami, who also had their game last week postponed travel to LA and play the Chargers. The Dolphins are a team that may win 7 or 8 games behind QB Jay Cutler. The Chargers on the other hand need a few more weeks to get their OL to play as a unit and fine tune their defense. I just want to know which NFL Einstein scheduled both the Chargers and Rams at home, at the same time, and on the same Sunday in Los Angeles?
The NY Jets who surprisingly gave the Bills a game until late in the 3rd quarter visit the Raiders who rolled over the Titans easily in week 1.  Dallas fresh off a spanking of the NY Giants on both sides of the ball travel to Denver to take on a tough Broncos defense who had a pulse on offense that scored just enough points to win on Monday night.  The 49'ers who were crushed at home in week 1, face the Seahawks in Seattle. Seattle who was dominated by the Packers look to punish San Fran and get back on track with a win.  Washington,  forgot to show up in their home opener and were thoroughly embarrassed, face a tough task of beating the Rams who will rely heavily on their defense to win games this year. The Redskins who were beaten in every facet of their game against the Eagles last week, had more emotion showed in the brawl in the stands then their play on the field.
The Sunday night game is a rematch of last years NFC Championship game. In that game the Falcons ran all over the Packers and beat them for the 2nd time in 2016. Both Green Bay and Atlanta won in week 1 and both look to continue their winning ways. The game will be the home opener for Atlanta in their new Mercedes Benz stadium. Give the Falcons credit, for although they charge the 24th most for an NFL ticket  to the games in the new stadium, they have lowered the concession prices on many items making it affordable to eat and drink while at a football game.
On Monday night, the Detroit Lions (1-0) travel to the Big Apple to take on the NY Giants (0-1). The Lions surprised many with another 4th quarter comeback and also with a surprising good game from their defense in week 1. On the other hand, the Giants and Eli Manning stunk up the joint at the AT&T stadium in Dallas as they were manhandled by the Cowboys in an embarrassing display last week. NY Giants star WR Odell Beckham jr. sat out the game against the Cowboys with an ankle injury but looks like he will be ready to go against Detroit. New York needs him badly as their offense sputtered all game and the OL couldn't open up holes for the run game nor could they protect Manning from the pass rush.
Once again, the NFL has a Black Cloud hanging over the league as we are now looking at round 2 of the NFL vs the NFLPA and a player in regards to the dolling out of punishment for alleged infractions. The Ezekiel Elliott saga will play out in court just as Deflategate did and in the end the 6 game suspension will probably be upheld. And the continuing blackballing of former NFL QB Colin Kaepernick by all 32 teams has both sides in the wrong for the way they have handled everything to date, but none more then the NFL and its Owners for making sure to squash any and all forms of the Players having any say so or power in the league. The NFL is determined to be an Owners league first and not end up like the NBA. In the NBA, nowadays the players hold all the cards and power and the Owners are helpless and the NFL Owners will continue down the path of being an "Our way or the Highway" type of league.  Cooper went 11-4 and CupofJoeintheD also went 11-4 in week 1 picks.  We will continue to post His record for each weekend and season total.      twitter; @cupofjoeinthed   email; cupofjoeinthed@gmail.com    www.cupofjoeinthed.blogspot.com
