1. Sex Scandal floors the Michigan Capitol - Two State Reps, Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat allegedly had an affair that has caused a Black Eye on the Michigan Legislature over this Sex Scandal! The alleged extramarital affair and cover up has been nothing short of bizarre with accusations of Courser being blackmailed, a cover up including lying about Courser having sex with a male prostitute to cover up the affair, to asking staff members to be part of the cover up in itself. The story which first broke last Friday in an audio recording of Rep. Todd Courser and an aide of his in which Courser is heard telling the aide that a story was concocted and put into email form and sent to State Republicans in May of 2015 that was a complete "sham" and "scam" to throw off the alleged blackmailer and others that Rep.Courser knew would be becoming for His head and be asking for his resignation. The aide who was fired, released the audio recordings after urging Courser to resign but Courser refused and as of this post continues to be defiant in the wake of the Sex Scandal that has now gotten international attention and even Late Night host Jimmy Fallon making fun of the situation the other night. Rep.Cindy Gamrat is supposedly making a statement in the next day or so in regards to the alleged affair. The solution to this Sex Scandal is simple: Both Rep.Todd Courser and Rep. Cindy Gamrat need to take responsibility for their actions admit what everyone already knows that they had an extramarital affair, show some sincere remorse and humbleness and be held accountable for the affair and whatever will happen , happen as there will be an internal investigation to see if any laws have been broken and to see if they will be removed from office or if they will do what is right and resign in the face of this Sex Scandal and cover-up.
2. Oil Refinery shutdowns in Indiana - A BP oil refinery shutdown for a mechanical issue and overnight gas prices shoot up over 50 cents a gallon and within 2 days prices are up almost $1/gallon. I have always thought it strange that the consumer gets royally screwed by the Oil companies. Every time they have an issue the price of gas goes up. I know of no other Business that when it is their fault the Consumer gets screwed big time. Oil prices are at their lowest in a long long time, gas prices were slowly heading down for in Michigan on Monday it was $2.32 / gallon and by Thursday afternoon it was up to $3.40/gallon. If you listen to BP they are crying poor mouth losing all this gasoline production each day they are down and analysts say this will only be a temporary gas hike. Funny thing though, I can assure you the price of gas will not go down as quickly as it went up and also lets talk about price gouging, why are all the gas stations raising their prices so high so quickly? The gas they already paid for and is at the pump today didn't cost them the higher amount so why does the State allow them to gouge the Consumer once again? Once again Big Business doesn't feel any of the pain that the consumer does and Gov't continues to give them huge tax breaks and subsidies while You and I are stuck paying for it at the gas pump!!! Again simple solution, Government needs to stop caving into Big Business such as the Oil Companies and make them pay their fair share of taxes and stop giving them millions and millions of dollars in tax breaks and subsidies each and every year. Also when there is an issue at a refinery, make the Oil Company responsible for their own facilities and refineries and stop forcing the consumer to pay for their problems. Big Business will always be around so isn't it time for them to pay their fair share of taxes instead of You and I having to pay for them?
3. What is going on with the DNC and GOP with their Presidential Candidates? I think it is time for both Parties and if their is an Independent who runs as well for all Parties to answer the following questions!
A.) What We need is 2 viable
trustworthy Pres. Candidates, but We all know that is impossible to ask for these days!!!
B.) All Presidential Candidates have skeletons in their closets, just some of them are the size of Dinosaurs. Be honest and explain the good with the bad and stop covering up!
C.) When will Politicians and
Presidential Candidates stop putting Special Interests and their own interests
ahead of Our interests? B.) All Presidential Candidates have skeletons in their closets, just some of them are the size of Dinosaurs. Be honest and explain the good with the bad and stop covering up!
D.) Why is it Pres. Candidates tell Us why their Opponents can't be President, instead of telling Us how and why they should be the President?
E.) It is time for the Presidential Candidates to tell the Nation where they stand on all issues and not skirt them or try to lie to the People.
F.) We as a Nation have to demand from the Pres. Candidates that they are open about their political platforms and their stances.
These are just a few questions I would like to see answered as the field of Presidential Candidates is narrowed down until We have 2 or possibly 3 Candidates as potential President in the next election. We the People need to stand up and unite and demand the Candidates share their agendas and stances on key issues and not let them or their Party continue to give us a "Dog and Pony show", nor give us mudslinging or misleading facts about their opponents or even those that are running with them in their own parties!!! We are a great Nation that has allowed this to become the norm and We need to change it NOW, not the following election or 5 elections from now!!!
4. Deflategate -The NFL and Roger Goodell faced off in Federal Court yesterday in the 1st Court room proceedings in regards to the punishment levied against Brady by the NFL. Judge Richard M. Berman is presiding over the legality of this case. In many posts I have blogged about, I am not a fan of Roger Goodell nor am I fan of Tom Brady. With that being said, I believe Tom Brady will go down as one of the greatest Quarterbacks of all time but as I have stated his Golden Boy image will be tarnished forever no matter what the outcome of this case is! He has lost his integrity and character to many over something He should of just admitted to in the first place. And playing for the Patriots who are the most dishonest Pro Sports team of all the Pro Sports teams doesn't help his case either. The Judge also indicated it could take a long time to settle this case if both sides cannot reach an settlement which I do not see happening. But even with all that being said, I see another major issue that will need to be dealt with in the next CBA with the NFLPA. The next CBA has to include robust and concise and definitively spelled out punishments for incidents that have occurred and will likely continue to occur in the future. The NFLPA appeals every punishment the NFL hands out even when they know the player has committed an offense and is guilty of it. Why even have an punishment or discipline system in place if every time a suspension or fine is handed down, the NFLPA is going to appeal or file a lawsuit in Federal Court? The NFL and NFLPA have to find common ground where there is maybe a 3 panel system made up of impartial personnel who can decide if a discipline or punishment is warranted for an incident. The current system is not working and has become a laughing joke for the NFL for a long time. It is time to seriously address the issue of punishment and discipline in the NFL and the Owners have to stand up to the Players and fix it before any more damage is done to the integrity of the game. The Black Cloud looming over the NFL is growing bigger each and everyday and if a solution is not figured out soon, the NFL could be and will be in Big Trouble.
