I have been asking questions of Detroit, Metro Detroit and the State of Michigan in the past 2 months that from the responses I have gotten back from others, they seem to also want the answers that those who are in authority to answer choose not to answer for whatever reason(s) they have. In fairness, it seems that a few of the Communities are getting together to look at a more viable way to have a Mass Transit Bus System for all of Metro Detroit but there has not been a formal meeting or a group discussion with all Communities to come together and get this done. Once again, it is time for Governor Snyder to get all those who are needed to make a decision together in one room and get a concrete plan in place to get this done. It isn't like they have to recreate the whole Bus system, just take a look at the cities who have an excellent Mass Transit Bus System in place and copy it! It shouldn't be this hard and take decades to figure out!!!! But it does take a commitment from the Governor on down to make this happen! Other questions not answered yet are as follows:
Why do some elected officials in Detroit think they deserve and need a pay raise only a short time after the City has come out of bankruptcy? Did these officials not see that on March 1st, most of those who have worked for the city of Detroit for many years and received a pension that was promised to them had to take cuts in their monthly pensions and some of them now have to get Government assistance to help them make ends meet? Let the City show it can remain solvent and restore services that are sorely needed in the City before some who feel they need a raise get one. Maybe make all raises of these Officials be performance based like it is in the real Business world for most people.
Why does the State Legislature decide and think they need to get involved in the adoption process in the State and try to pass a law bringing religion into the adoption decision making process? Really??? The Legislature couldn't come together and figure out how to fund fixing our roads, instead they stuck it to the voters to vote on this in May knowing that they literally made this a no choice vote, but the voters have to say yes for there is no back up plan. But the Legislature has no problem putting together a bill to make it a law that a person or person(s) religious beliefs are now part of the adoption process as to whether they will be able to adopt a child or not? How is this not some sort of discrimination? I sure hope the Governor has the gumption to do whatever He has to in making sure religion is not brought into the adoption process.
Why has the City of Detroit not addressed the issue of Buses not running on time, not showing up at all, or being so crowded that people can't get on them? I know they say more Buses our on the way, but is this all the City is doing to fix these issues? Adding Buses will help some issues but not all of them. Come on Mayor Duggan get with those who are in charge of the Transit System and have them fix it, people are tired of the excuses they keep getting and even more so when they are late to work or an appointment or even worse, they get fired from their job because of these reoccurring Bus issues in Detroit!
Why did MDOT spend over $12 million to refurbish train cars that sit idle on the tracks? Couldn't find a better way to spend that money? Maybe like on additional Buses, help to fix the roads, police and fire, helping those in need, etc.. etc.. etc... Again no one wants to answer why!!! Just because it was in the Budget isn't an answer!
Why does it take so long to repair broken water mains and pipes throughout the city of Detroit? Everyone knows according to reports there are at any one time especially during the winter many and I mean many broken mains and pipes that seem to take way too long to fix. I would hope again that whoever is responsible for the Detroit Water Department would have a list of all these broken mains and pipes and a priority plan is in place to fix being prudent and efficient and not just fixing them as they come to light or the media reports them to the City. We all know the water infrastructure is in desperate need of repair but in fixing some of these leaks and the ones the City tells us are leaking millions and millions of gallons, maybe the increases each year to the Suburbs will not be as so large if they or the new Water Authority become proactive and work on fixing these leaks big and small?
Why are the few warming centers only open during the day and part of the evening, when they need to be open all night long especially in the brutal cold weather we have been having? There are nowhere near the amount of shelters that the City needs to help address the Homeless in the City and with all the new Businesses coming into the City, wouldn't it make sense to be proactive and sit down with all the Community organizations and Churches and find a way to obtain Public funds and private donations and use some of the vacant buildings around the City to house and get these people back on their feet. When will the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan address this very serious and growing situation and do something about it now.! Not 5 or 10 years from now or give every excuse about there is no money or worse yet that they keep putting their heads in the sand and say, what problem? These is not a Homeless issue in the City of Detroit! Everyone has been saying this for way too long! It is now time to address and find a solution for the Homeless and those in need!!!!!!
Why has there not been an official response to why a Man died in his Hazel Park home on February 5, 2015. The State asked Consumers Energy a week later for a report in regards to this issue and I have yet to hear as to exactly what happened. But even more so, I want to know why this Man who was a Veteran and another Gentleman who owned the house where the gas was shut off were denied by at least 2 agencies that are suppose to help those in need ! It seems to me, no one is questioning these agencies that refused them help to get the gas turned back on! I do not know about anyone else, but I for one, want to hear from these agencies as to why?????
I will on a bi weekly basis continue to ask these questions and others as they arise in hopes that one day and I hope that day is soon, that those who can answer these questions will, and they will be the promise of addressing and fixing any and all issues.... @cupofjoeinthed
