For Richer not Poorer have God's People of Cloth BECOME!!!
Has anyone seen or heard of the new reality TV series in Detroit called "Preachers of Detroit"? It will be debut later this year. I am hoping it will be more about faith and family and helping of those in need and not about the outrageous and lavish lifestyle that some in Ministry have and like to show off! The show which will air on Oxygen seems to be more about ratings and money than anything else! Just this week, a Megachurch Pastor (Creflo Dollar), asked his Congregation and others for a $65M private plane, so He could spread the gospel. Where is he going that he can't fly like the rest of us do? Rumors are swirling that just as it is shown on the other reality show on Oxygen called "Preachers of LA", these People of the Cloth live very lavish lifestyles filled with expensive cars, houses, clothes, trips , etc as well as receiving huge paychecks from their Churches and Ministries. In Detroit, where the economy is slowly coming back and the City of Detroit is in the infancy stage of revival, there are so many still in need and help from the Churches and those in Ministry and other Community Charities. The Homeless, The Hungry, Those with Mental Issues and Addictions, and those that need clothing, furniture, and help with bills or other miscellaneous needs are only a few of the areas that are addressed by the the Churches and Ministries in Detroit but there is so much more that could and should be done to help those in need! I am quite sure that many that head up the Churches and Ministries in Detroit receive a modest pay from their Churches for their services and give back much to the Community. I hope these that will be shown in this TV series will be shown to be Leaders of their Churches and Ministries and Congregation and for what they and their followers do for those in the Community and not show how much money these people of the cloth make, or the type of cars they drive or where and what kind of house they live in or if they have a lavish lifestyle! In my opinion that would not show the true spirit of Detroit and all the good the Churches and Ministries do for those who need help or guidance or a Church to call home. Congregations who generously support their Churches should know just how much of their gifts to the Churches and ministries go to administrative costs (costs to run the church, costs of paying those in positions) and how much goes to helping those in their Communities. I am sure some would be shocked and outraged to see how much and how little goes to different areas of the Church and Ministry budgets! It isn't only happening in Detroit but all over the Country where Preachers and Bishops and Ministers and Pastors and Others are raking in an ungodly amount of money from their Parishioners and the Communities and Others and live lifestyles that are on par with the Rich and Famous. I do not know about You, but I am all for a decent wage for all to live on, but for some of these People of God this is outlandish at best. We as a Country of Churches and Ministries need to give more back to help the poor and those in need instead of lining their pockets! @cupofjoeinthed
