Super Bowl XLIX over hyped or under hyped?
So now that Super Bowl XLIX is over, do you think it was over hyped or under hyped? Early indicators show the viewership is up 4% over last year. Detroit tied for fourth-largest Super Bowl audience at 55.0 rating/71 share, behind Boston, N.O., Phoenix and Seattle tied for 17th in Super Bowl XLIX ratings, 52.1 but had huge 89 share. Missing was the LA and NY and Chicago markets with large viewership bases that should of been vying for the top spots of viewership possibly indicating that more and more people outside of the USA watched the game for the overall increase from last year. Not sure that will help increase sales and profits for the companies that paid $8M for a 60 second ad if indeed viewership increase was from outside the USA. Katy Perry and others put on an energy filled halftime show and she was her fabulous self as always. The game itself was a thriller that came down to the last minute of the game and probably one of the worst play calls in the history of the Super Bowl now belongs to the Seattle Seahawks. It will be known forever as "BeastModeNoMas" for Seattle chose to pass and not run a play when they had a great RB (Marshawn Lynch) who was running and punishing defenses as he always does late in games but instead of giving him the ball, the Seahawks tried to pass the ball and it was intercepted and the Patriots won. It was a great win for the Patriots and Belichick and Brady but winning this game does not exonerate any of them or the NFL for the deflated ball incident 2 weeks ago in New England. The NFL has to make this right and get to the bottom of this immediately and dole out the punishments where they are needed so as to help restore the integrity back to the game of football and to also help with the PR disaster that the NFL has now where as fans, players, owners and most everyone else does not trust the NFL anymore! Honestly, how stupid do the Patriots and the NFL think the fans are? This Super Bowl win, the Patriots 4th win in the last 14 years should place them amongst the greatest Super Bowl teams of our era. But this Super Bowl win will be muddied and will call into question whether or not the Patriots cheated and what advantage it did give them in the playoff game against the Colts. Everyone knows the NFL and the Patriots want to sweep this under the rug and hope that by the Patriots winning the Super Bowl that this will become a non issue in the months to come. So the questions remain, 1.) was the Super Bowl over hyped or under hyped? 2.) what percentage of viewership was in the USA and outside of the USA? 3.) what was the percentage of viewers for the halftime show and also commercials? 4.) Do you consider the Patriots one of the greatest Super Bowl teams of this era? 5.) Do you think the NFL will be open and honest with their finding of DeflateGate and do the right thing? 6.) Does DeflateGate in your mind stain and tarnish the images of the Patriots and Belichick and Brady? 7.) On a scale of 1-10 which 10 being most trustworthy, where do you rate the NFL?
