NFL Carousel of Head Coaching Jobs
Has anyone seriously taken a look at all the Head coaching vacancies this year in the NFL? We know each year that some coaches will be fired for having very disappointing records for a few years or so or didn't make the playoffs when the expectations were set that they would. Sometimes injuries or a tough schedule or a bad play or two can ruin a season. And coaches that were fired from one team are quickly hired by another. There also seems to be a run on talented OC and DC individuals to become first time Head Coaches. But I was truly surprised when Denver let John Fox go and the reasoning from President John Elway was he didnt see enough screaming and yelling going on from the team. Now John Fox's record with Denver was 46-18 in four seasons which for any coach in the NFL is an incredible record and a .718 winning percentage. Granted the expectations the past 2 seasons were very high as Denver was one of the best teams in all of football in the regular season. But they failed to win it all as John Elway said to everyone. Denver reached the Super Bowl last year but was beaten badly by Seattle. Denver this past season went out in FA and spent allot of money to shore up its defense which for the most part was very good this year. Denver for the first part of the season was the best in football and then started to backslide. and lost this past weekend to the Colts. It is ironic that Elway came out and said they had parted ways with John Fox and gave his reasoning but never mentioned that QB Peyton Manning had a serious injury that limited his throwing ability as a QB. It seems that the other coaches on the football team will not have any problems getting other positions within the NFL including John Fox if he chooses to do so. Denver will take a major step back next year especially if Manning decides to retire. Elway who is still idolized in Denver as a player seems to be truly gambling that his decision to let John Fox go will take the Broncos to the next level of being in the Super Bowl next year! Only time will tell but from my perspective, Denver will be an average team at best next year especially with all these wholesale changes on the coaching staff and his Star QB's status up in the air. I think John Elway and his big EGO should take a shot at coaching the Broncos next year and see what it is really like as a Coach and try to improve on the foundation and talent that John Fox and his coaching staff left him! It seems He was more worried about what people thought of him and how he did his job than seeing what he had in a real good coach. I hope John Fox does take another Head Coaching job and within a few years take that team all the way to the Super Bowl and wins.... @cupofjoeinthed
