Week 8 of the NFL season begins Thursday night with two AFC
teams heading in different directions. The Miami Dolphins (4-2) travel to play the Baltimore Ravens (3-4). Miami, currently on a 3 game winning streak lost QB Jay Cutler for a few weeks with broken ribs. Matt Moore filled in perfectly and led a 4th quarter comeback last Sunday. The Ravens on the other hand have lost 2 games in a row and are struggling with injuries and an offense that cannot find the end zone. Only a good defense has allowed them to be where they are in their Division.

Sunday starts off with the Cleveland Browns hosting the Minnesota Vikings. The Browns, who are still looking for their first win on the season are going back to QB DeShon Kiser. Minnesota who is in first place in the NFC North, continues to win behind a backup QB and a dominating defense.  In a game of  two win teams, the Colts visit the Bengals in Cincinnati. Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict who has been suspended in the past for cheap shots on opposing players, deliberately kicked a Steelers player in the head last week, yet for some unknown reason the NFL refused to take any actions against him for his latest transgression. The win less 49'ers visit the best team in the NFL right now, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles lost 2 key players to season ending injuries so it will be interesting to see how they rally around this latest development. Second year QB Carson Wentz has been the best QB thru the first 7 weeks of the season.
The Buffalo Bills host the Oakland Raiders in an AFC match up. The Bills will rely on their defense against the Raiders whose offense exploded last week in their win over Kansas City. The confused looking Falcons travel to NY, to play the surprising NY Jets. Atlanta has lost 3 games in a row and were soundly beaten last Sunday by the Patriots. This is a must win game for the Falcons. The Panthers visit Tampa Bay in a game which features two teams that have been good at times and very disappointing at other times. Panthers QB Cam Newton seems to continue to have issues with the media and it looks like it is affecting his play the past few weeks.  New Orleans behind their newfound stout defense host the surprising Chicago Bears who have won their last 2 games solely on their defense and without virtually any offense.  The Saints who have won 4 games in a row and are atop the NFC South have a balanced running and passing attack and look like a playoff bound team at this point in the season. The LA Chargers, who are making noise in the AFC West travel to New England to take on the Patriots. The Patriots are winning some close games and will face a surging Chargers team that has won 3 games in a row and is looking to make it 4 in a row with a win over New England.  The Seahawks host the Houston Texans in a game that could end up being a high scoring affair. Both teams have scrambling QB's that will open up holes in the opposing defenses.  In a big NFC East showdown, the Washington Redskins will face the Dallas Cowboys in a game both teams need to win to keep pace with the Eagles and for a possible playoff position.
The Sunday night game features the 1st place Steelers traveling to the "D" to face the Detroit Lions who are coming off their bye week.  Detroit has lost its last two games and is decimated with numerous injuries right now. Pittsburgh is jelling at the right time and is tied for the best record in the AFC. The Lions need to open up their offense as this could end up being a shootout.
On Monday, we will see another top showdown as an AFC West battle ensues when the Denver Broncos visit the Chiefs in Kansas City. Both teams have lost 2 games in a row but the Broncos are having trouble scoring points and have scored just 10 points in their last 2 games.
