NFL Playoffs and Wild Card Preview

The NFL Playoffs open this upcoming weekend with 4 Wild Card Games on tap. These first round games should be very interesting and entertaining. Teams on the last weekend of the season battled to get in, some needed help by other teams and some teams tried to better their seeding to get a bye week or home field advantage throughout the Playoffs.  Between all the NFL HC firings and opening to be filled it is good the playoffs begin this weekend as the NFL and its Owners have gone Bat Crazy!!!  Here is a quick breakdown of the games this weekend.
In the first game of the weekend, it is the Oakland Raiders at the Houston Texans.  This will be a very interesting game as the Raiders will be starting rookie QB Connor Cook against a real good Texans defense and the Texans will be starting benched  QB Brock Osweiler.  Both teams have good run games but it will come down to who doesn't turn the ball over and I expect a low scoring game in Houston. Houston has to be loving the selfish play of JJ Watts who has been out almost all season after having season ending back surgery.
The second game on Saturday features the Detroit Lions traveling to face the Seattle Seahawks. Detroit which lost 3 in a row to end the season, on paper fare well against the Seahawks. Seattle which has lost a step on defense has struggled mightily on offense, especially the last 6 games of the year. The Lions are banged up on both sides of the ball but really banged up on the OL and the secondary. If QB Matt Stafford gets any time to throw the ball and RB Zenner can rush for 80 yards, Detroit could upset the heavily favored Seahawks at home.
On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins visit the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins will be playing behind back up QB Matt Moore who has played good in his 3 starts. Miami needs to shake off last weekends laying of an egg and establish the run to set up play action action against a very surprising Steelers defense who came on late. Pittsburgh who is healthy for the most part will look to have a balanced rushing and passing attack and put up 30+ points in this game.
The second game on Sunday pits the NY Giants and the Green Bay Packers.  The Giants who have played some of the best defense the last 8 games of the year are facing a Packers team that has won  6 games in a row behind potential MVP QB Aaron Rodgers. New York which started both of their last Super Bowl runs with wins over the Packers in Green Bay, will need to play turnover free football against a high scoring Packer team who will need to score allot for their defensive secondary is in shambles.
