In the early games on Sunday, Jacksonville hosts the Vikings in a must win game for Minnesota, while the Jaguars are looking to end a 7 game win less streak. In an AFC South battle for first place, the Texans travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. Both teams are 6-6 and it is a good possibility the winner of this Division will win it with an 8-8 record. The Titans also tied for 1st place in the mediocre AFC South and will host the Broncos who will be starting rookie backup QB Lynch for the 3rd straight week. In Buffalo, a battle between the Steelers and Bills will end the season for one team and keep the slim playoff hopes alive for the other. Should be a classic December game filled with snow and drama on Sunday. The surprising San Diego Chargers travel to face the disappointing Carolina Panthers in a game pitting 2 teams that have no chance of the playoffs this year. Another big game has the Dolphins hosting the Cardinals in a game that will again end one teams playoff chances and keep alive the slim chances of the winner. Philadelphia plays host to the Redskins in a game that features one team looking at the playoff picture while the other, the Eagles stills scratching their heads trying to figure out how a season that started out with so much promise quickly turned into a season filled with disappointment once again. In the last of the early games on Sunday, the NFC North first place Detroit Lions host the Chicago Bears. The Lions winners of 7 of their last 8, look to continue to keep a 2 game lead in the Division and the Bears seek to look for their QB for next year.
The Sunday late games start with a game that has the makings of a snoozer at best when the NY Jets travel to face the 49ers in San Francisco. The Jets, fresh off a Monday night blowout at home face the 49ers a team that has lost 11 straight. In a must win game for the Packers, Green Bay hosts the 1st place Seahawks. Seattle looks to clinch their Division with a win. the Packers need a win to keep their very slim playoff hopes alive. The entertaining Saints travel to the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs who are tied for first place in the NFC South look to win their 5th game in a row. The Atlanta Falcons travel to LA to take on the Rams. Atlanta once again fading in the 2nd half of the season desperately need a win against the rams who are a team just trying to win a game and caught up in internal strife and turmoil. The Rams for some strange reason gave HC Jeff fisher a 2 year contract extension. They decided to reward him for having a sub .500 record again.
The Sunday night game is the biggest game of the week as the 11-1 Dallas Cowboys travel to face the 8-4 NY Giants. The Cowboys only loss of this season so far came at the hands of the Giants in the 1st game of this season. Dallas is looking to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win and the Giants seek a win to remain in the 1st WC spot in the NFC.
On Monday night, the Patriots led by QB Tom Brady and an explosive offense face the Ravens who are one of the best defensive teams in the NFL but also have an offense that has come alive as of late. Both teams are in first place in their perspective Divisions and both seek to win and stay a top in the AFC.
A question for all those who love the NFL, is the NFL becoming too friendly of a league between the players? It seems the days of hated rivalries and teams playing good tough physical football with a chip on their shoulders has gone by the wayside.
