NFL Power Rankings Week 14 and Recap

The NFL Power Rankings Week 14 and Recap after week 13 of the Season. Week 13 opened up with a thrilling defensive struggle as the Dallas Cowboys won their 11th straight game by downing the Minnesota Vikings in a game that was decided on a missed 2 pt conversion in the final minute of the game. Once again it seems the refs missed a blow to the face of a QB by an opposing DL men that should of been called but wasn't called. The Cowboys are rolling closer to claiming home team advantage throughout all the NFC Playoffs and the loss by the Vikings coupled with the Detroit Lions win, now has them 2 GB with 4 remaining in the season.
On Sunday, we saw Lions go into New Orleans and manhandle the Saints and QB Drew Brees in stymieing the top offense in the NFL all game long and winning their 4 straight game and now leads the NFC North by 2 games. Baltimore at home, ran roughshod over the Dolphins snapping Miami's 5 game winning streak. The Broncos beat the Jaguars in a close game running Jacksonville's losing streak to 7 straight games.   The Bengals beat the Eagles in a game that all but ended the Eagles playoff hopes after Philadelphia started the season 3-0. In a wild game in Atlanta, the Chiefs downed the Falcons as a 2 pt try by the Falcons was intercepted and ran back the other way for 2 pts. thus allowing Kansas City to squeak out a 29-28 win.      New England at home won easily over the LA Rams to maintain their 10-2 record, tying them with the Oakland Raiders for best record in the AFC.  Chicago behind the running of rookie RB Howard and his 3 TD's cruised to a big victory over the 1 win San Francisco 49'ers who lost their 11 straight game.  And in snowy Green Bay, the Packers won their 2nd straight game against the Houston Texans thus keeping their very slim playoff hopes alive.
The Sunday afternoon and night games showcased a battle in Oakland between the Bills and Raiders that feautured a running team against a passing team and in the end the Raiders won to go to 10-2 and keep their 1 game lead over the KC Chiefs in the AFC West.  The Steelers stayed alive in the AFC WC race by beating the NY Giants and snapping the Giants winning streak. The surprising Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their 4th straight game and kept their NFC WC hopes alive going into San Diego and beating the Chargers, all but ending the Chargers season. Arizona playing the Washington Redskins at home, won a seesaw battle and closed the gap of teams battling for a WC in the NFC this season.  The Sunday night game which was suppose to be a game of 2 top NFC teams turned into a snoozer and rout as the Seattle Seahawks hammered the Carolina Panthers, ending the Panthers playoff hopes and pushing their lead to 3 games in the NFC West with 4 games remaining.
On Monday night, the Indianapolis Colts went into New York and destroyed the Jets. The Jets are now a team in disarray on both sides of the ball and the Colts evened their record at 6-6. With their win, Indy is now in a 3 way tie for 1st place in the mediocre AFC South.  The NFL also needs to address their domestic violence policy better and work with the NFLPA to take all the loopholes out of it and make the penalty for violating this policy a very strict suspension. Officiating is looking even worse then ever as pick plays, pass interference on the offense and defense continues not to be called and late hits and roughing the passes depends more on who the player is, then was the play an actual penalty or not?  Ratings are also low due to the parity in the game and as they do every year they select the teams before the season for the Thursday night and Sunday night games.  Cooper went 10-5 in his week 13 picks and is 146-44-2 for the season   We will continue to post His record for each weekend and season total.                                                                            twitter; @cupofjoeinthed    email; cupofjoeinthed@gmail.com
