CFB Top25 Week 6 by Joey the Cat and CupofJoeinth

Here is the CFB Top 25 Week 6 and a recap of week 5, updated by Joey the CFB Cat Analyst and also by CupofJoeintheD. Week 5 of the CFB season seen Alabama roll over another cream puff in their non conference schedule. And until the CFB Playoff Committee calls out and starts to punish the Top teams for playing such a soft non conference schedule we will continue to see this happening. College Football needs to take the same approach as College Basketball does in that the softer the schedule you play the lower the ranking and seeding you will be have come Playoff time. Right now the CFB Committee bows to pressure from the Top Bowl Sponsors and Advertisers to continue to put the Elite teams in the Top Bowls without any repercussions for not playing a tougher schedule.
The Top 10 in the CFB seen a little shakeup as Clemson dropped a spot after barely eking out a win against Syracuse. In this game, Clemson's QB went down with an injury and the backup wasn't able to move the ball until late in the game. Clemson wouldn't be in this position if they hadn't lost their starting QB from last season and the first few games of this season who earlier in the week said He would transfer immediately to another school. It will be very interesting to see if Clemson tries to bring back QB Kelly Bryant now that their #1 QB might be out for a while.  These decisions in the past few years always come down to wins and $$$$$$$ and not doing the right thing.
As it is in most cases, Top Teams will struggle on occasions in games during the season and when the underdog has a chance to upset them, they need to continue to score and not get to complacent and allow the Top Teams to get back in the game. When teams don't capitalize when they should the end is almost always like it is in Vegas where the Top Teams win most of the time. This past weekend, we saw Penn State for the 2nd year in a row have a big lead late in the game only to collapse late and lose a heart breaker. The Nittany Lions Head Coach James Franklin after the game tried to put his team in the same sentence as the Elite teams in the Country, even though He was responsible for His teams late demise again. Penn State is a good team but they are nowhere near being an Elite team. And Northwestern was up by 17 points on Michigan and instead of pouring it on, got conservative and lost in the final minutes of the game.
With most Power 5 Conferences now in full swing, the next 6 or 7 weeks should see the Top 10 change a few times and barring any major upsets, the Top 5 or 6 teams at this point will be the teams vying for the 4 team CFB Playoffs.
Joey was 26-6 in week 5 including picking 3 upsets. YTD, Joey is 112-33 with 20 upsets picked. Joey will provide his picks of the week on Thursday as he does every week.  We will revise our Top25 every week thru the College Football Season..  twitter; @TheCupofJoeintheD   email; cupofjoeinthed@gmail.com    www.cupofjoeinthed.blogspot.com
