This Great Nation sure has Gone CRAZY!!!!

Everyone by now has heard that the State of Indiana in its infinite wisdom signed into law a very controversial law called the "Religious Freedom Law" which give Businesses in Indiana the right to refuse service to gay people. There seems to allot of uncertainty as to just what this law truly means or how it will be interpreted and by whom! Either way this new enacted law has become a huge debate as to where there should be separation of Church and State. It seems that only when it is in the best interest of a person or political party or a personal agenda does the mixing of Church and State seem to not be an issue. The hypocrisy is staggering and it truly dumbfounds me that in this day and age, a Gov. Mike Pence, a possible Republican presidential candidate and the State House of Indiana against the advice of many law professors and top legal experts chose to sign into law a bill that could give businesses the right to refuse service to gay people. And the controversy is reaching its height just as the Final Four comes to town. The law which takes effect on July 1st has really caused quite a stir and the Democrats and Republicans alike are jumping on this every chance they get to try and make profound and sometime stupid statements in regards to this new law.   Nineteen other states already have so-called religious freedom laws. They are modeled after a federal law, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, signed by President Bill Clinton in 1993. Arkansas is about to be the Twentieth State to pass this law soon. Some legal experts have said that Indiana's law differs drastically from the Federal Law and most other similar state laws, in ways that could allow businesses a wider berth to discriminate. The Republican leaders of the Indiana Legislature said Monday that the law does not permit discrimination of any kind, and they pledged to work quickly on language to clarify it. It is baffling to understand how the State of Indiana and its Governor thought this would just be like any other law and their would be no backlash or consequences to this so called Religious Law! Business executives, notably leaders of tech companies like Apple and Yelp, have spoken out against the law, and Angie’s List cited it in canceling plans to expand its facilities in Indianapolis. Entertainers have canceled tour dates in the state, a gaming convention is considering going elsewhere and the governors of Connecticut, New York and Washington have imposed bans on state-funded travel to Indiana. On the other hand, likely Republican presidential contenders — prominent among them Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio — have supported the law. Early this week, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, a Republican presidential candidate, said in a Senate floor speech that Pence was "giving voice to millions of courageous conservatives across this country who are deeply concerned about the ongoing attacks upon our personal liberties." Even the White House joined in. “This piece of legislation flies in the face of the kinds of values that people all across the country strongly support,” Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, told reporters on Tuesday at his daily briefing. So as the debate of Indiana's Religious Law continues to grow stronger by the hour, one must ask themselves where should separation of Church and State begin and end? And lets look who is jumping on and off the bandwagon of this Law in Indiana all the while they make their intentions known of their political aspirations, but do they truly care about the divide of Church and State and a person's religious beliefs or preferences or are they just using this for Political Gain?     @cupofjoeinthed
