My Weekly Sports Recap and Thoughts from the "D" and Beyond ending 3.22.15

My weekly review post of Sports and my Thoughts as they pertain to the "D" and Beyond for the week ending Sunday 3.22.15 .  This was a week filled with all sorts of drama and ups and downs. In the "D":
Lions: They have brought in a few other FA's to look at and signed a few of their own FA's but it looks like they will depend heavily on the upcoming NFL Draft to bolster their roster and upgrade the talent of the team long term. I give them a grade of B for their FA moves and signings.
Red Wings: The Wings have been near the top of  the Eastern Conference of the NHL all year but have struggled badly the past few weeks and are making costly miscues and have slid back a few places in the playoff race. They are still struggling to score goals and one night they are playing incredible and the next night they do not even show up. Also they have had some untimely injuries late in the season.
Pistons: The Pistons lost 10 straight before winning a few more than they have been losing. The team plays with allot of hustle and up tempo but still doesn't believe in team defense and lives and dies by the 3 ball. They are out of playoff contention at this point and will have to look seriously at the off season to see if there are any FA's that will help this team improve its team chemistry for next season.
Tigers: The Tigers are getting closer to having their full roster back in time for Opening Day. Still too many unanswered questions about the pitching staff to truly know how good this team will be this year. One thing for sure is that the offense will have to really step up and score allot more this year than in previous years to offset a suspect starting pitching staff and sub par bullpen.
Spartans: Tom Izzo's Spartans made their 18th straight NCAA tournament appearance as a #7 seed and won both games in the first weekend of the Tournament and are on their way into the Sweet 16 as now the favorite to win the East Bracket and go to the Final 4. Izzo is quickly becoming known as Mr. March for getting his Team into the Tournament and how well they perform.
Wolverines: The Wolverines Basketball Team is looking towards next season. U of M didn't even receive an NIT bid, so their disappointing season is over and hopefully they will rebound next season.

Sports beyond the "D":
NFL Free Agency: Free Agency seems to be winding down for the most part with NFL Teams now concentrating on the NFL Draft in about 6 weeks.  Some teams have upgraded their Teams vastly and other teams lost allot to Free Agency and some teams stood still as well.  Players moved from Team to Team and it was mostly all about the money that motivated the players to go to new teams. Ndamukong Suh was still the most prized FA this off season and He went to the Dolphins who also seem to over spend to get TE Jordan Cameron from the Browns. And now you have Dolphin owner Stephen Ross saying He will mentor Suh. Why does a grown man need to be mentored?
Baseball: Opening Day is just around the corner and now that most teams have their rosters almost filled, most teams realistically have a good idea how good they may or may not be this upcoming season. Usually a month or so into the season and we see who is good and who isn't.
NCAA: March Madness kicked off this past weekend and we seen who are the Contenders and who were the Pretenders as are now headed into the Sweet 16.  It was a fantastic weekend of basketball as there were nail biters, games won at the end, many one point wins and some blowouts and upsets of the Top seeds. Those who filled out there NCAA Brackets in hopes of having the winning bracket were mostly crushed or busted if they just took the favorites. After this weekend which all the 16 teams left have a great chance of winning, we will be down to the Final 4 heading to Indy next week.
NBA and NHL: Their Seasons are starting to wind down with a month of the regular seasons to go and teams are jockeying for Playoff positions and also for home court and home ice advantage.
NFL Draft Day: a little over 5 weeks to go before draft day starts on April 30, 2015
NFL Season: Starts in a little over 5 months on September 10, 2015.
