NFL Week 5 Power Rankings and Week 4 Recap

Week 4 of the Season ended Monday night with the Kansas City Chiefs staying undefeated by downing the Broncos in Denver. The Chiefs looked great on offense but are very suspect defensively against the run.  The game was won by Chiefs rookie QB Patrick (Not the original Showtime) Mahomes in the 2nd half as He showed once again KC was right in trading ex QB Alex Smith after the season to the Washington Redskins.
Thursday night, was a game where both offenses lit up the scoreboard up but it was the LA Rams behind QB Jared Goff's 5 TD passes and over 460 yards in the air, beat the Vikings and QB Kirk Cousins 400 yards thru the air and 3 TD's. This could be the precursor to the NFC playoffs.
On Sunday, we saw a rookie Head Coach in Indy gamble in OT and cost his team a tie and letting the Texans win their first game of the season. A 2nd Head Coach in Tennessee gambled in the Titans game and they went on to win in OT.  In GB, the Bills behind rookie QB Josh Allen were shutout by the Packers. The Packers should be worried about QB Aaron Rodgers and his injured knee. The Patriots steam rolled the previously undefeated Dolphins that shows that the AFC East is wide open and up for grabs.  In Atlanta, the Bengals overcame a 4th quarter deficit and once again the Falcons crumbled under pressure and lost a game they had in hand to win. The Chargers and 49ers went back and forth in a seesaw battle that was eventually won by San Diego. New Orleans went into NY and behind the running of RB Alvin Kamara and His 3 TD's beat the Giants. The Jaguars cruised to an easy win over the Jets but lost RB Fournette to another hamstring injury.
In other Sunday games, Dallas behind RB Ezekiel Elliott beat the Lions on a last second FG. This was one of the game were numerous missed calls and a very questionable rough the passer call cost the Lions a potential victory.  In Oakland, the Raiders beat the Browns in rookie QB Baker Mayfield's first game. This was another game where the Officials made a questionable call which indeed cost Cleveland this game. The NFL in these games try to justify the blunder and mistakes by its Officials but we are seeing more and more games where bad calls by the Refs are costing teams a victory. The Seahawks beat Arizona in QB Josh Rosens first game. In this game, Seattle safety Earl Thomas broke his leg and in being carted off the field flipped off the Seahawks sideline in an apparent reference to his disgust with the team in not signing him to a long term deal. And in the Sunday night game, the Ravens went into Pittsburgh and  won going away. With the Steelers tied for last place in the Division with Cleveleand, many are wondering if the team made the right decision in not signing holdout RB LeVeon Bell to a big deal. Missing from Pittsburgh offense is a RB who can run deep routes and take pressure off the QB. Reports have the Steelers shopping Bell around for a 2nd round pick and another quality player who can play right now.  A dangerous path the Steelers are now in with Bell.
The new roughing the passer rule once again was at the forefront of the games this past weekend although it wasn't called as nearly as much as they past 3 weekends. Numerous questionable calls were made and now teams are asking the NFL to clarify the rule. The rules committee is expected to meet next week and discuss but do not expect any changes to the rule if any until next season.
