NFL Divisional Games Recap

The NFL Divisional Games Weekend was full of wackiness, craziness, zaniness, action packed, foolishness and just plain ole stupidness as well. Through the first 2 weekends of the NFL Playoffs the home teams own a 6-2 record.
In the first game on Saturday, the Atlanta Falcons pummeled the Seattle Seahawks.  Seattle opened the scoring and held a brief 10-7 lead but after that it was all Falcons as Atlanta used their potent passing attack to score with ease. It was a game of pitch and catch for MVP Candidate and Falcons QB Matt Ryan. Atlanta which led the NFL in scoring this season was hitting on all cylinders as they will now host the Green Bay Packers in what will be an expected high scoring shootout for the NFC Championship. The winner will advance to this years Super Bowl.
In the Saturday night game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans, was close for the first half but the Patriots blew out the Texans in the 2nd half on their way to the AFC Championship game. The Texans kept it close by getting to Pats QB Tom Brady and forcing him into a few interceptions and bad decisions but in the end as it was all season long, Houston's QB Brock Osweiler was brutal and threw 3 interceptions and missed wide open receivers all game long. Even a great defense needs a QB that can move the team and score points. So the Patriots live on for another day and now will face the Pittsburgh Steelers and their well balanced scoring attack this up coming Sunday.
In the Sunday afternoon game in which the Green Bay Packers visited the Dallas Cowboys, this game was billed as the game of the weekend and it lived up to its billing and then some. It was a game that had the Packers race out to an 18 point lead only to see the Cowboys slowly erase the lead and tie the game at 28 a piece. In the final 2 minutes each team traded FG's and with 30 seconds left, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers did what he does best in scrambling and making a great throw that gave the Packers a chance to win the game with a 51 yd FG. Green Bay kicker Mason Crosby kicked the game winner as the Packers stunned a full house in the AT&T Stadium. In what was the closet game so far in this years NFL Playoffs, MVP Candidate Packers QB Aaron Rodgers showed why he may still be the best in the NFL. The Packers will now travel to Atalanta and face the Falcons in what should be a possible rematch and shootout from earlier this season.
The final game of the weekend saw the Kansas City Chiefs host the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers passed and ran up and down the field in the 1st half but could only muster 4 FG's for their efforts. The 2nd half was a struggle that saw the Chiefs fall short and lost 18-16. The Chiefs thought they had tied it on a 2pt conversion only to have it taken away on a questionable holding call. Both teams played their hearts out in cold wet weather but in the end the Steelers came out on top and will now travel to face the New England Patriots for the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl 51. It was another heart dropping defeat by the Chiefs at home in the playoffs.
The NFL Divisional Games games were very entertaining to say the least, great defensive battles and also explosive offensive shows as well. But now we are onto the Championship Games where teams will have to play great on both sides of the ball and as anyone knows, any team can beat any other team on any given day. The winners will be onto Super Bowl 51 on February 5th in Houston, Texas.
