The loss denied Nick Saban of winning his 6th National Championship Title and one has to wonder if His ego got the best of him. There is no argument Saban is one of the top Head Coaches in all of College Football and some would argue possibly the greatest of all time. But his announcement of removing former OC Lane Kiffin 10 days before the Championship Game was a bold but puzzling move by Saban. The reasoning given was it was a mutual decision for Kiffin to move on for He had been announced as the new head coach at FAU. But reports all season long indicated this would be Kiffin's last year at Alabama and there was a rift and divide growing between Saban and Kiffin. It was very strange timing when this all came to a boil and Saban blaming the lack of scoring by Alabama in the CFB Playoff game against Washington. So Kiffin went on his way and new OC Steve Sarkisian who was an offensive consultant all season long was now the new OC for the Roll Tide. But last night there was no doubt the offense was out of sync most of the night and except for a few big pass plays the offense looked out of whack and QB Jalen Hurts, an 18 year old Freshmen looked his age most of the game. After getting out to a lead early on, Alabama went for long periods without truly moving the ball. Questionable offensive play calling and ultra conservative approach offensively in the 4th quarter contributed to the blown double digit lead. Alabama's defense was on the field for over 34 minutes and 99 plays. Nick Saban was banking on his defense and running the ball would win this game but Clemson had too much firepower and in the end Saban and His ego might have cost Him and the Roll Tide the Collegiate Football National Championship.
