NFL Conference Championships Recap

The NFL Conference Championship Games were full of wackiness, craziness, zaniness, action packed,  and pretty much what was expected of them. Both Home teams won this weekend, as one game was a war for 60 minutes and the other game was pretty much over by the end of the 1st quarter.
In the first game on Sunday, it was an epic Battle as 2 of the greatest QB's faced off for probably the last time. And they didn't let us down at all. In an action packed, mainly defensive battle that seen both QB's get hit several times and yet get up after every hit and sack, it was Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos that came away victorious in the game and earn the right to face the Carolina Panthers in SB50. Manning made just enough plays at QB and the ferocious Bronco defense battered Patriots QB Tom Brady all day long and hung on at the end for a 2 pt win. Give Tom Brady credit, He was hit, rushed, hurried, battered and sacked all day long, yet as always, his determination and greatness almost willed out a tie and potential OT at the end. Patriots HC Bill Belichick made some questionable decisions all game long including accepting to receive the ball after the Patriots won the coin toss. He was clearly out coached in this game and the game plan on both sides of the ball was suspect at best! The Broncos relied heavily on their defense and once again the defense showed why they were the best in all of the NFL this season long. Every yard the Patriots got was hard earned, nothing came easy for them at all. Give credit to the Broncos for a solid game plan on both sides of the ball and earning a return to the Super Bowl. I am sure this is Peyton Manning's last hurrah!!!
In the Sunday night game between the Cardinals and the Panthers, it was all Panthers from start to finish. The Panthers again showed everyone why they are the class of the NFL this year in a game they dominated in all facets of the game and they never looked back. Carolina QB Cam Newton showed why He will be this years MVP as He directed an explosive offesne that the #2 defense in the league had no answer for the whole game. The Panthers put up 49 points in the rout but a more telling tale was the 7 turnovers their defense and special teams forced the Cardinals into. In a game where most sport analysts said the Panthers secondary couldn't cover the Cardinal receivers, they couldn't of been more wrong. The secondary covered the speedy receivers for the most part but it was the front 7 of the Panthers defense that the Cardinals OL had no answers for as they had their way with them all game long. When Arizona QB Carson Palmer wasn't being sacked or running for his life, he was hurried or hit or a hand in his face and it showed in his passes and also the 2 fumbles he lost as well. My only concern was when the game was out of reach early in the second half, why HC Ron Rivera didn't pull  QB Cam Newton earlier and let him run and he could of been potentially injured. Their is no doubt in the minds of any NFL fans or players or teams in the NFL but Cam Newton is the new prototypical QB for NFL franchises. Move over Marshawn Lynch, meet Mr. Cam Newton, He is the new "BeastGoat" in the NFL. A title well deserved!
The NFL Conference Championship Games games were very entertaining to say the least, a great defensive battle and also explosive offesne shows as well. But now we are onto Super Bowl 50 where in 2 weeks the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers will face off for the grand daddy of them all. The Panthers will be the early favorites to win but both teams suffered injuries to key players in their games on Sunday which will be important in deciding the Super Bowl.
Cooper the NFL Analyst was 2-0 in picking the Conference Championship Games and is 8-2 so far in the Playoffs, after going 188-58 during the season, check back later this week to see his pick for the SB50 winner. Cooper also correctly picked the Broncos and the Panthers as the two  SB50 teams that would be facing each other on his blog post from 9/1/15.  @cupofjoeinthed
