My Sports Recap and Thoughts from the "D" and Beyond....

My weekly review post of Sports and My Thoughts as they pertain to the "D" and Beyond for the week ending Saturday 11.28.15 .  This was a week filled with all sorts of drama and ups and downs. In the "D":
Lions:The Lions have won 3 straight games with a defense that is starting to play as it should of all year and the offense behind new OC Jim Bob Gun Slingin' Cooter finally exploded against the Eagles this week. QB Stafford threw for 5 TD's and Megatron Johnson caught 3 of them.
Red Wings: The Red Wings are currently tied for 3rd place in the Eastern Conferences Atlantic Division. They have been playing better hockey as of late but continue to blow 3rd period leads late in games and this could become a huge problem as the season goes on.
Pistons:  The Pistons are currently 8-8 in the young season and have surprised Everyone including myself that they would have 8 wins so far. They have won some games they shouldn't and also lost a few they should of won but they are playing fun to watch Basketball and in a weak East, could actually win 40 to 45 games and possibly sneak into the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed.
Tigers: The Tigers made their first splash into the off season acquiring a Closer (Francisco Rodriguez) from the Brewers. The Tigers also lost former Catcher Alex Avila who signed a one year deal with the White Sox. The Tigers are looking to be part of the FA market in looking for allot of pitching this off season.
Spartans: The Spartans Football Team remains #4 in the Country after they trounced Penn State 55-16 to win the B1G East and face #3 Iowa B1G West Champ) next Saturday in Indy for the B1G Championship. QB Connor Cook who missed the game last week against OSU, threw for 3 TD's and the OL never let the PSU defense touch or sack him at all. The winner will be one of the 4 teams in this years CFB Playoffs for the National Title. In Basketball, Tom Izzo and his Spartans are #3 in the country and are undefeated (6-0) so far this young season. Denzel Valentine leads the Spartans into the Championship game on Sunday in the John Wooden Classic against Providence.
Wolverines:The Wolverines went into Saturday's game against OSU having many believing that they had turned the corner and were going to earn at least a tie in the B1G East for first place. The Big House in AA was a rockin' but the Wolverines only showed up for a brief time in the 1st half and got a beat down as the Buckeyes demolished them 42-13. The Buckeyes could of scored more if they wanted to but chose not to at the end of the game. The Wolverines were not prepared for this game and Jim Harbaugh who had many believing the KoolAid, he had them drinking was badly out coached and the B1G season ended on a very sore note for the Wolverines whose defense was lit up like a Christmas both on the ground and in the air by the Buckeyes. There is no doubt who the better teams are in the B1G this year and also in the State of Michigan. In Basketball, the Wolverines are currently 4-2 and have struggled in the early part of the basketball season.
Sports beyond the "D":
NFL: The NFL continues to have a Black Cloud over it, as once again the Officials caused the outcome of a game to be called into question as none of its officials in the game made a call that was suppose to be called and it cost a team a potential winning touchdown. This has become the norm as in a playoff game last season the Officials also blew a call that cost a team a win. The NFL seems to do what they want when they want for the NFL is a money making machine that makes the Owners money hand over fist! The NFL's concussion protocol was violated by the Rams a week ago when their QB was injured but allowed to play even after sustaining an concussion. The NFL decided not to punish the Rams for not protecting a player for with the NFL (NOT our FAULT LEAGUE) it is all about wins and money and players safety is last.
MLBaseball:  Baseball is over and the World Series Champions are the KC Royals who won in 5 games against the NY Mets. The off season officially has started and FA will begin. Look for the richest contracts to be signed this off season and many players will be on new teams for the 2016 Baseball season..
NCAA:  The Coaching carousel is off to a fast start with the season just getting over for most College teams. Many top openings can be found and Colleges are moving quickly to fill their vacancies. The craziest   happened at LSU this week where after losing 3 straight games, LSU Leadership with Boosters bending their ears decided it was time for Les Miles to be fired after 11 years and a winning percentage over 75%. The Boosters agreed to pay the buyout, estimated to be between 15-20M to get the Coach they wanted instead of Miles. Public Black lash and Support of the Coach finally prevailed and it looks like Miles will stay with the team. If I was Miles, I would tell LSU where to go, for they treated Miles with disrespect just because some rich and arrogant Boosters did not like Miles anymore and had the money and influence to try and get rid of Miles.and put in the HC they wanted. Miles should take a hard look at what has transpired for although he is nicely compensated and has been very loyal to LSU, this is only one sided and there are a couple of prime Coaching openings He should seriously take a look at! (Hint....Hint.. ) Texas would be my first choice for him
NCAA Football Playoff:  In the second season of the Playoffs, time will tell if they get it right this year or not. I still think they should have 6 teams vying for the National Title where the Top2 teams have a bye week first, while the other 4 teams play. Right now it looks like Clemson, Alabama, Iowa /MSU (winner) and Oklahoma are in. ND and Baylor lost and are done. There is talk about a 2 loss Stanford sneaking in but I see no way for this to happen unless politics as usual come into play. After next weekend, the 4 Teams will be solidified and all the Bowl games decided.
NBA and NHL:In the NBA, Golden State remains undefeated and they have won their first 18 games. In the NHL, The Dallas Stars and the Montreal Canadiens have the best records so far.
