DeflateGate punishment by NFL and Goodell doesn't fit the Crime!!!!
So the DeflateGate punishments are finally in and once again Roger Goodell and the NFL had a chance to do the right thing and they didn't even come close! First off, let me say to all that have tweeted me about my previous posts and tweets, I am not a Brady hater nor a Patriots hater. I believe Tom Brady is an elite QB and one of the greatest of all time. With that being said, I also believe that with the DeflateGate situation and the report by Ted Wells, Tom Brady should of turned over his phone records and texts and any other correspondence in regards to the deflating of the 11 out of 12 footballs against the Colts in the AFC Championship Game this past January. His refusal to do so along with the lies, cover up, and hindering of the investigation by the NFL, by the Patriot organization, Tom Brady, and the ( locker room attendant Jim McNally) and (equipment assistant John Jastremski) certainly cast doubt on the the entire Patriot organization once again in the eyes of many, including myself. The legal advice that the Pats and Tom Brady received from their attorneys to not cooperate with the DeflateGate investigation, certainly raises into question what they really knew and why the balls were deflated in the first place. The Patriots are already known as the most dishonest team in all of Pro Sports and DeflateGate does nothing to help their already smeared reputation! To me as I have said repeatedly in my other posts it isn't just about the deflated balls or the so called explanations by scientist and Coach Belichick of the Patriots, it is about the the entire situation as a whole. This was not a witch hunt as many have said it is, it was about finding out who deflated the footballs, why they deflated the footballs, what advantage it gave them, if any, and why all the deceit, lies, hindrance, and covering up by the entire Patriot organization! If everyone remembers, just a week or so after Deflategate happened, Robert Kraft (Owner of the Patriots) said to the media that the Patriots did a thorough and complete investigation into DeflateGate and no one within the organization did anything at all and He expected a public apology by the NFL for this incident and all the accusations. It took the NFL weeks to start an investigation into DeflateGate and months to compile its findings and I give the NFL allot of credit to wait until after the Draft to release their findings. Make no mistake about this, the NFL is a very smart organization when it come to PR and releasing information to the media and fans alike. I do not think the deflating of the footballs gave the Patriots enough of an advantage to make a difference in the game against the Colts. I do have to ask why Tom Brady and the Patriots would risk their reputations and integrity and credibility to do such a stupid thing and then when confronted about it, Brady and the others refused to cooperate and they hindered and tried to cover up the incident! That is what is the most confusing part to me. Tom Brady will one day be in the HOF as a great QB and one of the best of all times, but his BIO and legacy will read that He was implicated in DeflateGate for lying, hindering and covering up the incident and not turning over his phone records, texts, and other correspondence in regards to this incident. To me, if He was innocent of this, he would of turned over the information Ted Wells asked for and there would be no more debate about it. But instead, he chose to take the course of action he did and now his Golden Boy squeaky clean image has been tarnished and dragged through the mud and many including myself now question his integrity and credibility and wonder can we believe anything he says to us anymore? Now, Tom Brady and the NFL Players Association want to appeal all of this even those he reused to cooperate with the investigation and Robert Kraft rips the NFL and his BFF Roger Goodell for the punishments that were doled out for DeflateGate. This is where I have been saying that the NFL and Roger Goodell made another serious mistake in being way too easy on all those involved in DeflateGate!!! As I said from the beginning, I would of given at least an 8 game suspension to Brady, had the Patriots fire the 2 employees involved, took away a 1st and 3rd round pick in 2016 and in 2017 and fined Kraft and the Patriots a minimum of $10M for their involvements in Deflatefate. It would of sent a strong message to all the other teams that the NFL won't stand by or allow any more shenanigans or stupidness that has been casting a Black Eye over the NFL and questioning the NFL's integrity of the game of football. But once again, Goodell got it all wrong and this literally amounted to no more than a slap on the wrist to the Patriots and Tom Brady. We all knew Brady would appeal as would the NFL Players Association. And as it is with all the other appeals, there will be an agreement to reduce the penalties on all parties of DeflateGate. I have a solution for Roger Goodell and the NFL and its Owners going forward, when the next CBA comes up, instead of caving into the Players, write a strong and robust CBA that includes in the players and teams conduct areas, one that includes strict and harsh penalties or disciplinary actions for any and all incidents that call into question the integrity and credibility of the NFL so that teams and players will think twice about doing such foolishness in the future. Also it is time to get the punishments right for any and all domestic abuse incidents and never make such a mistake as the NFL did in dealing with Ray Rice and what he did! I have always been a harsh critic of the NFL and Roger Goodell for how they deal with situations and will continue to do until they get it right and continue to get it right. It has always been about the money, money, money with the NFL and until they address each infraction individually and not how it affects the NFL money wise, Goodell's legacy as a Commisioner will be one as the puppet to the Owners and one who doesn't care about the NFL or its credibility and integrity but only as one who does as the Owners wish and making money and more money and nothing else! I wonder what all the other Owners in the NFL think of this punishment and if Goodell's actions in regards to DeflateGate were harsh enough to deter incidents like this in the future? As for the Patriots, one has to look at DeflateGate with the remembrance of "SpyGate" and how the Pats vehemently denied any involvement at first and all the other so called alleged incidents over the years and question the Patriots integrity as a Team and Organization and the label as the most dishonest team in all of sports! As for Tom Brady and his "Golden Boy" image, one has to ask, Why, Why, Why would you have anything to do with this and what could you possibly have gained in your alleged involvement? Why did you refuse to turn over your phone records and texts and any other correspondence to show you were or could of been innocent? Instead you chose to be dishonest, hinder, and cover up during the investigation and even more so, your "Golden Boy" image has forever been tarnished and to many including myself, your integrity and credibility have been muddied and anything you say going forward will be called into question. All for the deflating of 11 footballs during the AFC Championship Game. I hope to all involved in Deflategate, it was worth it to you! As for all the Brady and Patriots fans, look at the situation without your biased clouded glasses and ask yourselves why your Team and Tom Brady refused to cooperate with the investigation and also hindered and covered up the incident and why Tom Brady also refused to turn over his phone and text records and other correspondence unless he had something to hide!!!!! @cupofjoeinthed
