It has been a very busy week for the NFL, in fact, its been a week of a large looming Black Cloud getting larger and larger over the NFL as the NFL offices and Roger Goodell sit back and still do nothing but put out a few responses in hopes of quieting the Masses. Lets see, NFL sources reported earlier this week that one of the NFL Officials took a DeFlateGate Ball and allegedly sold it to profit from its notoriety and he has also sold other game balls for his own profit. These football are usually sold and the money given to charity, The said Official was also allegedly fired for these incidents but no official response from the NFL! Also the NFL uncovered this week that a locker room attendant for the Patriots allegedly tried to sneak into the game an unauthorized football. Also this week The Cleveland Browns GM ( Ray Farmer) finally admitted that he illegally sent text messages to the sidelines during a game, something He and the Browns denied over and over when the issue first was brought to the NFL's attention. Also, the Indianapolis Colts GM ( Ryan Grogson) spoke to the NFL before the AFC Championship game to inform the NFL about possible tampering of the footballs by the Patriots, a claim also reported first by the Baltimore Ravens in an November game played in Foxboro to the NFL and the NFL to my knowledge never made any mention of this to anyone. The Ravens also reported that they had noticed the kicking balls were softer during a divisional-round loss to the Patriots. Again not one word from the NFL! Also, no word on the ongoing investigation into the 11 out of 12 footballs that were deflated before the AFB Championship Game. League officials have not provided any updates on Ted Wells' investigation into ''Deflategate.'' Major crimes are solved quicker than how long it takes the NFL to conduct an investigation into one of its teams and this is both laughable and pitiful! Also, the NFL hasn't spoken or did anything about Greg Hardy and his domestic violence charge that was dismissed after he paid off the accuser not to testify against him. There are other incidents and issues out there that the NFL continues to try and sweep under the rug in hopes we all will forget as time goes by. These many Also's, undermine an NFL that continues to be driven by the $$$$ its generates but does little to protect the integrity of the game anymore! The NFL hopes to deflect the criticism of how inept it has become in dealing with these problems by hoping the pageantry of the Super Bowl would help to diminish their problems and this week that the combine would again put the NFL in a favorable eye to the fans and media instead of actually working to take care of their many issues. In reading some reports of the issues with the Officiating and game day issues, I think the NFL should put standardized procedures and rules in place and make sure everyone from Roger Goodell to all its NFL employees and officials as well as all the players, coaches, and owners understand these procedures and rules and put punishments and fines in place when these procedures and rules are not adhered too, in fact the NFL should do this across the board with everything in the NFL! But until then, the old saying continues for the NFL:
Where there is smoke, there is usually fire, and with the NFL and Roger Goodell , it has become a Bonfire!!!
